What is financial planning?
Professional financial planning is a process that helps you to assess where you are financially today and where you want to be in the future, and then determine the best way to get there. The process begins with an initial in-depth review of your current financial situation, followed by the creation of a blueprint for achieving future goals and objectives.
Our financial-planning process has seven distinct steps. Click here for details.
What is a financial planner or advisor?
Anyone can say that he or she is a financial planner or advisor. That’s why it’s essential to be sure of the qualifications and credentials of any “planner” or “advisor” before you pay anything or entrust them with your financial present or future. Act Two Financial Advisors offers a no-obligation “Get Acquainted” meeting via phone or in person.
Michael Ciaciuch is well qualified to help you with your financial advisory needs. As a Certified Financial Planner™ professional (CFP) and an independent investment advisor registered with the State of Michigan, he has taken extensive training and adheres to the rigorous CFP Board Code of Ethics and Practice Standards as well as the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors Fiduciary Oath.
Why Choose Act Two Financial Advisors?
We don’t sell any products and we don’t accept money from any third parties. We always place your interest above ours.
Michael has been helping people prepare for retirement for over 15 years and has earned the Certified Financial Planner TM, Accredited Investment Fiduciary TM and National Social Security Association designations. He also holds an MBA degree from Northwood University and is a member of the Garrett Planning Network and the Financial Planning Association.
We say what we will do and we do what we say. If we don’t know - we will find the answer. If we can’t find the answer - we will tell you so.
There are always questions to answer, forms to complete, and thinking too! But, Amanda is always helpful and always nice. We try to make the financial planning process as easy as possible.
We understand the whole money thing can create anxiety. We don’t judge – we’re here to help. We also understand the importance of lifestyle issues and emotion in the financial planning process. Relax! We understand.
No one cares about your money more than you do. We are next. We have enjoyed a special relationship with many clients over the past fifteen years. We have plotted a course and been together through good and rocky financial markets, through peak earning years, and in the retirement income distribution phase. We meet with most clients two times a year. Sometimes more – sometimes less, you choose.
No one likes surprises. We discuss your feelings about risk and reward. To insure that we are on the same page, we construct and review an Investment Policy Statement that explains our investment philosophy and how we will manage your money.
Don’t I have to have lots of money to need or get a good advisor?
No. Act Two Financial Advisors has no income or investment account minimums for hourly engagements.
How can a financial advisor help me?
Anyone seeking financial peace of mind can benefit from working with a good financial advisor, either periodically or on a regular basis. Act Two Financial Advisors serves people at all income levels and from all walks of life – whether the need is one quick question answered or ongoing financial assessment, management, and direction.
Each individual’s situation is unique. Someone just starting out may need a detailed, long-term plan of action while someone else already on the road to achieving their goals simply may need a new strategy, professional insight, fine-tuning, or a second opinion on an existing plan. This is why we tailor our services to meet each individual’s needs.
What if I want or need to buy investment or insurance products? How do I do that?
Act Two doesn’t sell products, only time and expertise. We do offer specific recommendations and opinions on various products and services that may be appropriate for your situation, and we can often advise you on where to obtain those products or services. If appropriate and at the client’s request, we can also help with plan implementation.
I already have substantial assets and am doing quite well financially – I think. Can you help me?
Yes. Act Two offers many services for those who need more sophisticated financial planning or advice. If a goal is to simplify your financial affairs, engaging with us on an ongoing basis may be right for you. If you’re interested in a professional review or a second opinion, we can provide that as well.
What is Act Two’s investment philosophy?
As financial advisors and investment consultants, we believe in the following fundamental principles when it comes to designing an investment portfolio and making specific recommendations:
The purpose of a client’s investment portfolio is to fund current and/or future financial objectives.
The design of the portfolio must take into account the client’s financial objectives, tolerance for risk, needs for current income or liquidity, and special considerations such as income and estate taxes.
The important thing to remember is that no one can predict the future. Difference of opinion makes a market. Investment and economic “experts” provided with the same information often come to different conclusions. We do not suggest that we, or that any of the money or mutual fund managers that we may recommend, will make the correct decision every time. We do believe, however, that studying the historic trends and relationships of investment classes and the philosophies and approaches of successful investment managers can provide valuable insight.
The appropriate allocation of investment assets for your goals and risk tolerance is the most important component in developing an investment portfolio.
We believe that a diversified, well-balanced portfolio, combined with long-term buy-and-hold strategies, affordability, and patience, increases the likelihood that you will achieve your long-term financial objectives.
How does Act Two select investments for a client?
Before recommending any investment, we consider current economic conditions, the outlook for a particular asset class or type of security, and how the investment fits within a client’s portfolio given his or her objectives and tolerance for risk.
As fiduciaries for our clients, we strive to obtain the most appropriate investment vehicles to meet the client’s objectives while remaining attentive to total expenses and risk exposure.
How does Act Two charge for periodic financial advice?
Our financial planning fees are based on the actual time spent meeting with the client in person or by phone, researching and analyzing the client’s current situation, and providing specific recommendations and implementation assistance (if appropriate). Our hourly rate is $200. We provide prospective clients with well-considered estimates of their fees at the end of the initial no-obligation “get acquainted” session.
Once my financial plan or project is finished, will our relationship end?
Not necessarily. The current engagement will cease, but we will continue to think of you as our client and will welcome hearing from you as the need arises. Your financial advisor is an ongoing provider of professional services, similar to your dentist. Just as you have regular checkups to maintain good dental health, good fiscal health requires periodic reviews of your personal finances.
How do I get started?
Contact us by phone or email to schedule your complimentary “get acquainted” meeting. We look forward to hearing from you!
